How to Throw a Memorable Galentine’s Day

Galentine's Day

Nope-that is not a typo. Galentine’s Day (held on February 13th) is the Valentine’s Day for the gal pals in your life. The “holiday” became known through a 2010 Parks and Recreation episode, and we are here to fully embrace it in all of its awesomeness.

Whether it’s just you and another friend or a large group of pals, our tips to throw the ultimate Galentine’s Day bash will make this memorable event one of your favorite shindigs to host. So this year, instead of hating the holiday of love, get all of your lady friends together to celebrate the holiday of gal pals.

Step 1: Decorations
All good parties start with awesome décor. Make sure for this special event you have fun with the decorations. For laughs (and to innocently poke fun) print out Valentine’s day memes and frame them all around. Someecards has lots of memes you can use for inspiration. Such as this one:

Step 2: Food
Valentine’s Day is all about chocolate and strawberries, but Galentine’s day is about both of those AND everything else that is high in carbs and sugar. Don’t skimp out on the cookies, cakes, ice cream, and of course…wine. We like to add these Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownie Bites to our dessert table.

3. Music
Last, but definitely not least, is the playlist for your party. You cannot have a solid girl’s night without a fun playlist to accompany it. Here are some songs that scream girl power and friendship.

Independent Women, Pt. 1 – Destiny’s Child

What’s Love Got to Do with It – Tina Turner

Put Your Records On – Corrine Bailey Rae

No Scrubs – TLC

This is How We Do – Katy Perry

Dog Days Are Over – Florence + The Machine

This One’s for the Girls – Martina McBride

I’m Every Woman – Whitney Houston

We Are Family – Sister Sledge

Who’s That Girl – Eve

And one by Bruno Mars, because we appreciate the lyrics
Count on Me – Bruno Mars
